Bantam & Midget Registration Notice

As most of you are aware, there has been merger/amalgamation talks between AVMHA and OMHA involving the Rep divisions. I remind everyone that these are only talks/information sessions at this point. A lot more information is needed to be gathered from both Associations in regards to even considering the possibility of this happening. This will not affect the 2013/2014 season and therefore I encourage everyone who is thinking about trying out for Rep hockey to do so. We’ve updated the Policy manual to read that if 38 players try out for Rep, there is a big possibility of having a “B” team. This means that we are able to leave one house team as they will be playing teams in the Mid-Island league and some of those players will most likely be AP’d to the Rep teams, giving them more opportunities. This does not apply to the Atom division as they are not a part of the Mid-Island league.

Please sign up before the April 30th deadline. If you are still unsure about the Rep fee, we can accept a postdated cheque for that Rep fee only dated July 31, 2013.

Registration will take place at the arena at the following times:

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact any member of the Executive. Their contact information is listed on the AVMHA website at www.avmha.com.

It is important to get the registration numbers well in advance of the season start so we can plan out teams we will have.  In order to do this we have offered an “Early Registration Cost” until May 31st.

If you register after June 1st you will be paying $150. more to register.

Why so much?

  • We want you to sign up early!  Last year a difference of $50. between early and late registration did not make much difference.

But I don’t have money to register now.

  • Register anyway.  You have until August 15th to pay for the registration.

I need funding for my kids to play hockey.

  • Register now and apply for the funding at the same time.

When and where can I register?

  • We are accepting registrations before and after the AVMHA Annual General Meeting Monday May 14th 7:00 pm at the Best Western Barclay Hotel.  There will also be one or two more public registration nights before the end of May (TBA).

  • You can also follow the instructions on the Registration Page and use PayPal to make the payment

  • Contact the Registrar – Kelli Steel tk.steel@shaw.ca – 250-723-2351

Take advantage of the substantial discount by registering players by May 31st.

All the info you need to register is on the REGISTRATION pages, including the Registration forms.

AVMHA Registration Form 2011-2012

Subject: Female Registation Numbers & Regional Tryouts

To: Female Development Coordinators/Presidents,

“2011-12 Regional Female Rep Application Form”

Female Registration Numbers:

I am attaching a spreadsheet for you to complete with the names of all of your female players in your association.   This information will help all of us, with planning for the upcoming hockey season.  If you could complete this information for your association and forward it to me asap and by May 6th at the latest that would be helpful. Please remember to include female players who ARE planning on playing integrated as well.

Female Regional Teams – Island Tryouts:

I am also attaching a female regional tryout application for ALL regions on Vancouver Island.  Please make sure this is sent out to all eligible female players in your association. The deadline for registering for regional team tryouts is May 15, 2011. This early deadline is in place because it is important that we have our numbers in place for the regional teams early in the season, so you can all plan for your female teams within your own associations.  Once we know how many players want to tryout for the regional teams, we can then determine which teams we will have in each division and from which area.  Once we have some firm numbers, we will provide further information to all associations and players with respect to what the female regional program will look like for the upcoming season.
I know some players/parents would like more information right now.  Unfortunately, without concrete numbers we cannot make those decisions.

Once we have the numbers together we will be having a female meeting to sit down and discuss the female program on Vancouver Island, both recreational and regional rep teams.   I appreciate your assistance with getting me the names and numbers of your players.   Without the numbers, it will be impossible for us to properly plan for the upcoming season.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you for your assistance with this.

Have a wonderful Easter weekend!

Best Regards,

Susie Sherman
