May 16, 2018 – AVMHA AGM

The AGM was held at the Best Western Barclay Hotel on May 16, 2018.  President Al McCulloch called the meeting to order with 33 people in attendance.  (30 Voting members).

Members of the executive gave their reports on the past season.  The Financial Report was presented with no questions from the audience.

Under new business, we asked that members come forward to volunteer under the Management Committee for positions such as Tag Day Coordinator, Banquet Coordinator, Grad jerseys, Gaming Coordinator, Recreational Team Coordinator, Ice Allocator and more.

Jim Humphry, President Vancouver Island Amateur Hockey Association was invited to speak on the topic of Zero Tolerance of Harassment and Abuse.  It is a serious topic and one that important for all minor hockey associations to deal with and not ignore.  We must have 2 coaches, parents or combination in the change rooms at all times.  Don’t think that it won’t happen on our team.  At some point it will and what are you going to do about it.  Jim gave an example of a young player that had been bullied for years without any support or action taken.  One day he didn’t come out of the dressing room and no one noticed.  He hung himself.  Don’t let this happen!

Election of Officers:  All positions were filled by acclamation subsequently voted in by the membership.

  • Vice President:  Kord Kozocari
  • Director at Large:  Amber Lamb
  • Secretary:  Andrea Massop

The winner of the FREE Registration Draw went to Shailean Porter

Meeting Adjourned.
