AVMHA thanks Bruce Brunt for organizing the successful “Bring in your Pucks” draw.  The draw was made April 1, 2012.

ITS TIME TO RETURN JERSEYS!

ATTENTION ALL TEAM MANAGERS:

Its that time of year again to start winding things down.

Part of that process is to collect the Jerseys.

  • Ensure that all jerseys are washed

  • Identify any jerseys in need of repair.

  • If you are missing any jerseys, identify who has them.  It is the responsibility of the manager to ensure that all jerseys are collected.  Once  collected, leave the jerseys in the locker.

  • If you used the alternate jerseys,  make sure they are washed and returned to the locker.

Keys:  Place keys in an envelope and clearly put your name on the envelope and deposited in the mail slot on the office door.

Please ensure that the coaches have removed all personal effects from the lockers  and returned puck bucketsfirst aid kits, and any other equipment borrowed from the lockers.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact me

TWITTER @avmha

Alberni Valley Minor Hockey is known as “AV Minor Hockey” when you search for it or @avmha.

The moment it was opened, several other minor hockey associations started following @avmha.

We are following a few minor hockey associations plus other hockey related accounts.

Feel free to join in and follow @avmha.

FACEBOOK Group – AV Minor Hockey

Not long ago the Facebook page “Alberni Valley Minor Hockey” was opened as a personal page in error.  It cause anyone who was a friend to have their posts show up on the wall.  As a result it was flooded by posts not relating at all to hockey & pictures too.  The page has now been shut down and closed.

A new Facebook GROUP has been opened as “AV Minor Hockey”.  I managed to move 197 of the 220 friends over to the new GROUP page and if you look at the left hand column of your own Facebook page you will see “AV Minor Hockey” under the heading of GROUPS, or click on the Facebook icon below.  If you are not a group member, search for “AV Minor Hockey” and join in.

If you have any questions about this, please do not hesitate to contact me, Roxanne:   avmha.webadmin@shaw.ca

More information is available below in the Online Clinic Registration Instructions and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ).
NEW for the 2011-2012 season.  All officials MUST complete the Online Pre-Task and bring their certificate to the clinic.  If you do not have your certificate you will not be allowed entrance into the clinic.  Your completion of the Pre-task is automatically recorded on your Hockey Canada profile for reference. Equipment for KidSport

Drive On For Hockey Gear in Alberni

If you have some old hockey gear just laying around gathering dust and not being used then KidSport and Alberni Valley Minor Hockey needs you.

The two organizations are teaming up to help give more kids a chance to play Canada’s game.

The organizations want you to dust off and donate your old equipment to the AVMHA.

“A lot of people have hockey equipment in their carports, garages and basements that isn’t being used,” KidSport spokesperson Ron Doetzel said.

“Well, how about donating it to us so a kid gets a chance to play ice hockey.”

All equipment will be considered, Doetzel said. “We’ll sort it when it gets here.”

Used equipment can be brought to the AV Multiplex or arrangements can be made to have it picked up.

The initiative will help kids whose participation in the game is just out of reach, Doetzel said.

Or a child can be suited up and possibly be eligible for registration fee funding through KidSport, he added.

“We’re all about creating the opportunity for kids age 5-18 to be able to play the game of hockey,” Doetzel said.

The BC Hockey Male Under 17 High Performance Program is an introduction to International High Performance Hockey which involves a series of short term camps and competitions just as our national teams are exposed to at a higher level. In addition, the Under 17 program is a pre-cursor to the well-established Hockey Canada Program of Excellence, consisting of Canada’s Under 18, World Junior and Men’s National Teams.
The Male U17 High Performance Program is specifically designed for first-year Midget-aged players currently playing Midget or Junior hockey.  All District Camps are by “Invite only.” Our BC Hockey High Performance Evaluation staff is instrumental in the process of selecting 46 athletes to attend each District Camp.  As such, BC Hockey High Performance staff will be out in the field scouting their selections to camp from September to February of each season.
